Going from 0 to 10,000 musicians

Tomorrow, if everything goes to plan, we will welcome our 10,000th musician to Encore, and for that reason, I cannot sleep.

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come in such a relatively short space of time, and I’m having a tricky time wrapping my head around the idea that 10,000 people have invested their time and effort into a concept that used to exist solely in my dreams:

A network connecting every musician in the world, not only with each other, but with new performance opportunities and the means to make money from their biggest love in life.

Ten-thousand musicians may seem like a lot, but to me and the team, Encore is only in its infancy. The implications of a global musicians’ network go far beyond simply finding and booking performers for events, but that’s a story for another day.

For now, I’d like to thank everyone who has helped Encore get to this stage.

  1. James King, my co-founder, for tolerating my impatience, building the backbone of our awesome tech platform, and for agreeing with me that an office piano was a totally justifiable purchase.
  2. Jonny, Josh and Paula, for consistently driving our community, our tech and our industry connections forward at a rapid pace.
  3. Matt, Alice and the gang at Entrepreneur First for bringing James and I together in the first place.
  4. Our investors and advisors for backing us and believing in us
